2.

The control car's head light is coordinated with the locomotive's direction of travel (see CV
169 in the train- leading locomotive decoder).

Connecting a pickup shoe

A connected pickup shoe allows for a continued illumination even after the locomotive has
been uncoupled.

If only one wagon within the train set has a pickup shoe, this wagon – even after uncou-
pling of the locomotive - supplies all other wagons of the train set until a locomotive takes
over supplying the train set.

Connect the pickup shoe, located on the right, front side when facing in the direction of
forward travel (white coupling side faces the front) to the solder contact on the decoder’s
bottom side. Look in direction of the traffic forward (white coupling side points to the lo-
comotive), then the solder contacts of the rail connection are on the right side of the decod-
er.

Connect the pickup shoe on the left top side.

Follow absolutely the hints to the component TS-1 Protect on page 10!

What you have achieved so far:

1.

Of course the previously mentioned functions.

2.

Even after the locomotive has been uncoupled, the lighting of the complete train set re-
mains stable. Thus, one pickup shoe per train set is sufficient in order to change locomo-
tives.

3.

In addition, when in motion, a WD-PWxxx with railway siding supports the energy supply
of a complete train set incl. locomotive.

How to use the WD-PWxxx and this manual efficiently

With the decision to install a WD-PWxxx decoder into your wagon, you have also opened up the
possibility of using the TCCS system from T4T. This innovative digital technology requires a thor-
ough understanding of the new functions.  Even if you have an extensive know-how and a lot of
experience, it is essential that you read this manual.
Please note that the WD-xxxxx series of decoders can only be used in conjunction with the LD-1x
series of decoders. It is useful to also read the manual for the decoder series LD-1x!

If this decoder initiates your first steps in the country of the digital technology, you read please be-
fore the installation and the introduction of the product urgently the chapter "Installation hints" from
page 13 and afterwards the interesting chapters, in particular the hints to the

TCCS

! Important note concerning the locomotive-decoder !

The integration of new decoders into the TCCS usually requires updating the locomotive decoders

that have been acquired before the delivery of the WD-PWxxx decoder.  Please note that the LD-1x

decoder software requires at least the following version numbers:

CV 255 greater 16

or

CV 255 = 16 and CV 253 greater 5.
