SERVICE
1 . Shu t off wa t er supply t o valve .
2 . Remove ha nd le plug bu tt o n a nd ha nd le (see
figure 9) .
3 . BP Series Remove d ial (T-29CT2) a nd
escu t cheo n (T-27) by removi n g eschu t cheo n
screws (T-28) . Remove all remai n i n g t rim .
2000 Series Remove d ial (T3-29) by pryi n g
up from t he slo t loca t e d a t 6 o’clock a nd t he n
pry up arou nd t he clock u nt il d ial is loose .
Remove escu t cheo n T3-27(D) by remov-
i n g escu t cheo n screws (T3-28) . Remove all
remai n i n g t rim .
4. Ope n valve t o abou t warm posi t io n a nd
u n screw cap (T-12A) . War n i n g: F ailure t o d o
t his will d amage cap a nd spi nd le . Spi nd le
assembly (TA-10) will be remove d wi t h cap .
L eave packi n g n u t (T-17) i n place while
u n screwi n g cap t o avoi d d is t or t io n.

[T-35(A,B)] for removal a nd replaceme nt of
(TA- 4 ) . I f sea t s are d ifficul t t o remove a nd
t ool shif t s d amagi n g n o t ches, reloca t e t ool
i n seco nd posi t io n of n o t ches . Tigh t e n bo t h
sea t s t o 15 foo t pou nd s of t orque .
7 . The perfora t e d e nd of t he (TA-10) spi nd le
assembly houses t he bala n ci n g pis t o n which
is t he hear t of t his pressure bala n ci n g valve .
The pis t o n shoul d be free t o move back a nd
for t h a nd shoul d click whe n t he spi nd le
assembly is shake n. I f d eposi t s block t his
ac t io n , t ap t he ha nd le e nd of t he spi nd le
agai n s t a soli d objec t t o free t he pis t o n.
Soaki n g i n househol d vi n egar will help free
foreig n ma tt er . I f t his d oes n o t free pis t o n ,
replace (TA-10) spi nd le assembly . Do not
tamper with perforated cylinder on the
spindle assembly or attempt removal of
the piston.
8 . Reassemble, reversi n g above proce d ure, be
sure spi nd le assembly is d raw n close t o t he
cap before screwi n g cap back i nt o valve .
