IRIG-B123 is a one-frame-per-second signal indicating the date and
exact time. The output contains both a BCD-coding of day, hour,
minute, second, and a binary coding of accumulated seconds since
midnight. An example is shown in Figure 2-1. The modulated code uses
a 1 kHz carrier.
The sample IRIG-B output shown in Figure 2-1 consists of time-coded
pulses that indicate the time as:

hours into the day,
18
minutes into the hour, and
42
seconds into the minute.
The sample IRIG-B BCD output in Figure 2-1 also includes a Straight
Binary portion, which consists of time-coded pulses that indicate the
time of day as
76,722
seconds into the day, which is the total you would
get if you summed up
21
hours,
18
minutes, and
42
seconds.
