Defining your security environment
Controlling full application inspection of traffic
Prerequisites
Complete the following task before beginning this procedure.

“Configuring access for CIFS and NBDGRAM traffic”
To create trace files of CIFS connections

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under Assets, click
Proxies
.

In the right pane, on the Proxies tab, click the CIFS proxy and then click
Properties
.

In the Proxy Properties dialog box, on the General tab, check
Enable tracefiles
.

Click
OK
.

Optionally, do one of the following:
■
To save your configuration now and activate later, on the toolbar, click
Save
.
■
To activate your configuration now, on the toolbar, click
Activate
.
When prompted to save your changes, click
Yes
.

Logging UDP broadcasts
You can configure the NBDGRAM proxy to log dropped UDP broadcast packets. You may find this
information useful if you are troubleshooting NetBIOS traffic connections. The procedure in this
section explains how to configure the NBDGRAM proxy to log this additional information.
Prerequisites

To log UDP broadcasts

Proxies
.

In the right pane, on the Proxies tab, click the NBDGRAM proxy and then click
Properties

In the Proxy Properties dialog box, on the General tab, check
Log UDP broadcasts
.

Click
OK
.

Enabling filtering through mail slots
The NBDGRAM proxy supports the filtering of network commands, called mail slots. Filtering lets you
control which commands are allowed and how the command’s spelling is enforced. This section
