Swann Security DVRx-2500 Email Alert Setup Guide
This guide is for you to setup Email Alert for the DVRx-2500.
Problem:
You may experience not able to send email alert from your DVRx-2500 to an email
address automatically when motion is detected on your computer. This is usually caused by
misconfigured email settings, your Internet Service Provider’s SMTP (outgoing email server)
blocking your internet connection to send out emails or your email server rejecting the emails.
Solution:
We can use Gmail’s SMTP service (free service) to provide a secure and reliable
outgoing email service for your DVR. It is fully encrypted and secure through the use of
Secure
Socket Layer
(SSL)
.

WHILE THIS GUIDE DETAILS THE USE OF GMAIL WITH OUR DVR, UNDERSTAND THAT WE
CANNOT GIVE SPECIFIC GMAIL SUPPORT BECAUSE IT IS A 3

PARTY APPLICATION. WE
INCLUDE THE GMAIL GUIDE AS AN EXAMPLE OF CONFIGURING THE DVR WITH AN EMAIL
PROVIDER.
WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO USE GMAIL’S SERVICE TO CONFIGURE THE DVR TO SEND
EMAILS. UNFORTUNATELY, NOT ALL EMAIL PROVIDERS WILL WORK WITH THE DVR, SO
WE ALSO INCLUDE THE GMAIL GUIDE IN CASE YOU NEED A FALLBACK EMAIL
PROVIDER.
