FUEL CUT OPERATION
INSPECTION
NOTE:
Before inspection, check to make sure that gear shift lever is
in neutral position (with A/T model, selector lever in “P”
range) and that parking brake lever is pulled all the way up.
1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
And check that A/C switch is OFF (if equipped).
2) While listening to sound of injector by using sound scope (1) or
such, increase engine speed to higher than 3000 r/min. (rpm).
3) Check to make sure that sound to indicate operation of injector
stops when throttle valve is closed instantly and it is heard again
when engine speed is reduced to less than about 2500 r/min.
(rpm).
FUEL PUMP RELAY
INSPECTION
1) Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2) Disconnect fuel pump relay (1).
3) Perform steps 3) – 4) of MAIN RELAY for procedure of ECM/
PCM POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM in this section for procedure.

FUEL PUMP
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
WARNING:
When fuel filler cap removal is needed in any procedure,
work must be done in a well-ventilated area, away from
any open flames and with smoking prohibited.
1) Remove filler cap and turn ignition switch (1) to ON position.
Then fuel pump operating sound should be heard from fuel filler
(2) for about 3 seconds and stop. Be sure to reinstall fuel filler
cap after checking.
If above check result is not satisfactory, go to TABLE B-1 FUEL
PUMP CIRCUIT CHECK.
