Troubleshooting

Air Purifier Will Not Turn On
Make sure the front cover is firmly into place. Move it around and push it into place more firmly and
try to turn on the air purifier again.
UV Lamp Not Working
The XJ-3000D uses two UV lamps, and if working properly, both will illuminate when activated. The
first of these lamps is located in the filter cavity, behind the HEPA filter. This is a non-ozone-produc-
ing UV lamp, and it is activated when the air purifier is turned “on”, and it remains activated until the
air purifier is turned “off”. This lamp is replaceable, and generally lasts about 12 months. In a dark
room, you should be able to see the blue glow from this lamp through the air outlet from the top of the
machine when the Santizer is off. If you are unable to see this blue glow, and it has been in use for
less than a year, then open the front cover, remove the filter, and push on eachend of the bulb to
make sure it is tightly positioned in the UV lamp holder. The second UV lamp is an ozone-producing
sanitizer lamp. This is a permanent lamp that does not require replacement. It is located inside the
air outlet at the top of the machine. It is only activated when the air purifier is set to Sanitizer Mode
(via Sanitizer button). When activated, you should be able to see a second blue glow by looking into
the air outlet. If you cannot see this second blue glow, then it may mean the sanitizer UV lamp is not
functioning properly. If this is the case, contact the Surround Air service department.

Air Purification Technologies

Air Ionizer

z

Effectively removes particulate from the air, such as allergens (including mold and dust mites), fine
dust particles, bacteria, viruses, chemical fumes and other ultra-fine particles that a filter cannot
capture.

z

Increases the effectiveness of the Hepa and activated carbon filter system by causing particles to
magnetically attract together, resulting in larger particles that are easier for the filter to capture.

z

Disinfects viruses and bacteria trapped in the filtration bank of the XJ-3000D that would normally
reproduce in the typical filter.

z

Has the ability to remove airborne particles away from the air purifier, in areas of the room where
the filter has little effect. This is due to the fact that ions can circulate throughout a room. Negative
ion circulation is enhanced as a result of the fan.

Hepa Air Filter

z

Removes 99.97% of particles (.3 microns in size) that pass through the filter, preventing them from
becoming recirculated into the air. Largely considered the most effective type of air filter.

z

Captures a high volume of floating dust and other particles, including many of the ionized particles
that would otherwise just settle to the ground if a typical ionizer were used.

Germicidal UV Light

z

UV (ultraviolet) light is scientifically proven to destroy a large variety of microbial contaminates,
such as viruses, germs, bacteria and fungi (including mold).

z

Ultraviolet light has been used for years by the medical field (including hospitals) to sanitize rooms
and equipment, in order to prevent the spread of illness and disease.

z

Recommended by Centers for Disease Control for its ability to destroy biological pollutants.

Activated Carbon Air Filter

z

Specializes in capturing and neutralizing chemicals, gases, odors and cigarette smoke, which the
Hepa filter cannot capture.

Programmable Ozonator

z

Powerful odor eliminator, which is a weakness of most other air purification methods.

z

In the Surround Air XJ-3000D, the ozone can be completely disabled if it is not needed or wanted,
while still allowing the ionizer, UV lamp and filters to run at full power.
