6-5 Installing/Removing Hard Drives
The hard drives install directly to two HDD plates (MCP-220-93909-0N), which are
included in each sled. Remove the two HDD plates from the sled fi rst. Either two
(one per node) or four 2.5" hard drives (two per node) can be installed in each sled.

Installing/Removing Hard Drives from the Sled
1. Remove the desired sled from the chassis by following the procedure in the
previous section.
2. Place the sled upside-down on a fl at, non-conductive surface.
3. There are two plates (P1 and P2) that are secured to the hard drive area of
the sled with four screws. Remove these plates by removing the screws as
shown in Figure 6-4.
4. Mount the hard drives on the removed plates (two drives per plate) with the
printed circuit board side facing down. The drive's mounting holes should
align with those on the black strips. Logical drive locations are shown in the
bottom illustration of Figure 6-4. These can also be seen on the connector
PCB (printed circuit board). Note: install the OS drive into the SATA0 location.
5. After mounting the hard drives, turn the sled back over and place the drive/
plate assembly fl at on the sled (align with the holes on the sled) then slide it
into the connector. Repeat this process with the second plate/drives.
6. When fi nished installing or removing drives, push the sled back into its bay
then depress the power button to power it back on.
