Chapter 4: Motherboard Connections
Power Button
The Power Button connection is located on pins 1 and 2 of JF1. Momentarily contacting both
pins will power on/off the system. This button can also be configured to function as a suspend
button (with a setting in the BIOS - see Chapter 6). To turn off the power when the system
is in suspend mode, press the button for 4 seconds or longer. Refer to the table below for
pin definitions.

Reset Button
The Reset Button connection is located on pins 3 and 4 of JF1. Attach it to a hardware reset
switch on the computer case. Refer the table below for pin definitions.

Description
Solid red
An overheat condition has occurred. (This may be caused by cable congestion).
Blinking red (1Hz)
Fan failure: check for an inoperative fan.
Blinking red (0.25Hz)
Power failure: check for a non-operational power supply
Solid blue
Local UID is activated. Use this function to locate a unit in a rack mount
environment that might be in need of service.
Blinking blue (300 msec)
Remote UID is on. Use this function to identify a unit from a remote location that
might be in need of service.
OH/Fan Fail/PWR Fail/UID LED
Connect an LED cable to pins 7 and 8 of the Front Control Panel (JF1) to use UID/Overheat/
Fan Fail/Power Fail LED connections. The LED on pin 8 provides warnings of overheat, power
failure or fan failure. Refer to the tables below for details.
