SmallTalk ST2-SR user instructions

The SmallTalk ST2 is a communication accessory for the Sundström half mask and full face

mask respirators. When used in accordance with these instructions, the respirator continues to
provide full protection.

To fit battery (fig. A):

•

Remove the battery cover by pressing down and sliding it out of the unit.

•

Insert a 9V battery, with polarity as per markings inside battery compartment.

•

While holding the battery in place, slide battery cover back in place.

To attach SmallTalk to the respirator (fig B):

•

Select which side of the body the SmallTalk loudspeaker unit will be positioned. Remove

the exhalation valve cover from the exhalation valve on the

opposite

 side. For example, if

the SmallTalk will be clipped

left

to the breast pocket, remove the valve cap on the

right

side of the respirator. This is to minimise feed-back effects.(fig. E)

IMPORTANT: Do NOT remove the exhalation membrane! The membrane must remain in

position to maintain breathing protection.

•

Snap the microphone holder onto the exhalation valve, with the cable pointing towards the

‘chin’ of the mask.

•

Attach the cable strain relief clip to the nametag holder of the respirator.

•

Pull the microphone cable into the clip, leaving a small loop between the microphone

holder and the clip (fig. C).

•

Don the respirator and clip the SmallTalk ST2 to your pocket, directly to your belt, or onto

the optional belt clip (HSE) (fig. D).

•

Switch on the SmallTalk ST2 and adjust the volume to the desired level.

If sound is muffled:

•

Try swapping the exhalation membranes between left and right.

Cleaning and maintenance:

•

The SmallTalk ST2 is water resistant. However, do not subject it to running water, and do

not immerse it in water.

•

To clean, wipe with clean, damp cloth. Do not use solvents.

•

Avoid exposing the microphone to water. Wipe with clean, damp cloth. Do not block vent

holes on outside of microphone housing.

•

If unit accidentally comes in contact with water, remove battery, wipe it, shake out any

water and wipe inside battery compartment, including contact surfaces.
