1. Presione el botón O/I una vez para encender el termómetro para el oído. La pantalla mostrará
momentáneamente todos los iconos, mientras el termómetro realiza una prueba.
2. Luego, se mostrará durante unos 2 segundos la lectura de la última medición.
Aparecerá una “M” pequeña junto a la lectura de la temperatura. Esta función
de memoria le ayuda a seguir el progreso de su hijo.
3. El termómetro para el oído emitirá un pitido y se destellará el icono ˚F o ˚C,
para indicar que el termómetro está listo para tomar una lectura.
4. Enderece el canal auditivo jalando la oreja hacia afuera y hacia atrás para tener
una vista clara del tímpano.
• Para niños menores de 1 año: Jale la
oreja directamente hacia atrás.
• Para niños de 1 año a adultos: Jale la
oreja hacia arriba y hacia atrás.
• Para un bebé, lo mejor es acostarlo con la
cabeza de lado, de manera que la oreja
apunte hacia usted. Para niños mayores
o adultos, es mejor pararse detrás
y ligeramente hacia su costado.
5. Mientras jala suavemente la oreja, inserte la sonda bastante al fondo del canal auditivo y
presione el botón “START” (Inicio) hasta que escuche un pitido. El pitido se debe escuchar después de aproxi
madamente 1 segundo; indica que se ha completado la lectura.
6. Retire el termómetro del canal auditivo. Lea la medición de temperatura en la pantalla.
NOTA:
• Tome siempre las lecturas en el mismo oído, ya que las lecturas pueden variar entre el oído derecho y el
izquierdo.
• Para asegurar que las lecturas sean precisas, espere al menos 15 segundos entre mediciones continuas.
• En las siguientes situaciones, se recomienda tomar tres mediciones de temperatura en el mismo oído y tomar
la más alta como la lectura:
1) Recién nacidos, los primeros 100 días.
2) Niños de menos de tres años con sistema inmunológico comprometido y cuando la presencia o ausencia de
fiebre sea crítica.
3) Cuando esté aprendiendo a usar el termómetro para el oído por primera vez y hasta que se haya familiarizado
con el instrumento y la manera en que se logran lecturas coherentes.
• La pantalla LCD se enciende automáticamente de color rojo cuando se detecta temperatura de fiebre. Se
enciende de color verde cuando la temperatura es normal.

HOW THE EAR THERMOMETER TAKES A READING
The Grow With Me Ear Thermometer Set measures the heat radiated from the eardrum and the surrounding
tissue. This energy is collected through the lens and converted to a temperature value equivalent to the commonly
used oral reading. The measured reading obtained directly from the eardrum (Tympanic Membrane) can ensure the
most accurate body temperature. The accuracy of a reading will depend on your technique, so please follow instruc-
tions for use carefully. We recommend that you practice using the ear thermometer on yourself and your family
members when they are healthy. You will then be more confident using the ear thermometer when a
family member is ill.
The Grow With Me Ear Thermometer Set meets the ASTM Accuracy Standard under normal operating condi-
tions.

used in accordance with operating instructions.

underarm temperature readings also vary, therefore readings taken from different body sites should not be
directly compared.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Note: • The thermometer probe should be kept clean by using alcohol swab to wipe it 2 minutes prior to the
test, and after each use.
Dirt, dust, or ear wax on the sensor will give inaccurate measurements!
• Do not touch the thermometer probe 2 minutes before measuring the ear.
• The time interval of the continuous measurement for the same ear should be at least 15 seconds.
• The thermometer probe should be fitted into the ear canal deep enough with gentle insertion, making
sure you don’t move the thermometer, then press the start key to get the measurement, do not
remove the probe until hearing a beep sound.
• Whenever putting on (or removing) the adult adaptor, you need to wait for 2 more minutes to cool
down the probe so as to get a reliable reading for next measurement. The adult adaptor should be
assembled to the probe by hearing (or feeling) a small click sound, so that we can ensure a reliable
measurement.
• The adult adaptor is not necessary to put on unless it is for measuring the temperature of an adult.

• Puede haber lecturas variables entre mediciones continuas, debido a las siguientes razones:
• Distinta profundidad (o ángulo) de inserción de la sonda.
• Mediciones demasiado frecuentes en el mismo oído, en un periodo reducido (más de 5 veces, con inter
valos menores de 5 seg.).
• Cambios extremos de la temperatura ambiente, cerilla o polvo en la sonda, suciedad en el canal auditivo.
• Permanencia prolongada de la sonda en el canal auditivo (no deben ser mayores de 5 seg.), agitar la sonda
durante la medición o retirar la sonda del oído antes de escuchar el pitido
