Hazard warning flasher inter-
lock function
Operation of the remote keyless entry sys-
tem can be confirmed easily outside the
vehicle.
y
When the “
” or “OPEN” button is
pressed to unlock all of the doors (and the
rear gate of a Station wagon), the hazard
warning flashers flash twice.
y
When the “
“ or “LOCK” button is
pressed to lock all of the doors (and the
rear gate of a Station wagon), the hazard
warning flashers flash once.
y
When the “
” button is pressed, only
the rear gate (Station wagon) opens. At
this time, the hazard warning lights flash
twice. (for vehicle without double locking
system)
y
When the “
” button is pressed for at
least 1.5 second, the trunk lid (Sedan) is
unlocked. At this time, the hazard warning
flashers flash twice.
If the trunk lid of a Sedan is not completely
closed when the “
” button is pressed,
the hazard warning flashers flash five
times. (for vehicle without double locking
system)

When the “OPEN” button is pressed for
at least 2 seconds, all four doors unlock
and the trunk lid (Sedan) then unlocks. At
this time, the hazard warning lights flash
twice (for vehicles with double locking sys-
tem).
The operational/non-operational setting of
the function that causes the hazard warn-
ing flashers to flash when the doors and
rear gate (Station wagon) or trunk lid (Se-
dan) are locked and unlocked can be
changed.
Vehicle with navigation system:
The operative/non-operative setting can
be changed using the monitor. For details,
please refer to the monitor instruction
manual.
Vehicle without navigation system:
The operative/non-operative setting can
be changed by a SUBARU dealer. We
recommend that you contact the nearest
SUBARU dealer for details.
Replacing battery
If the transmitter fails to operate when
used within the standard distance, this
may indicate a weak battery. Replace the
battery as soon as possible. It is recom-
mended that you have the battery re-
placed by your authorized SUBARU deal-
er. If you have to replace the battery by
yourself, use utmost care that no dust and
water may enter the transmitter.

1. Remove the screw on the transmitter
case.
2. Open the case using a flat-head screw-
driver.
