cover becomes compromised, the mattress should be removed from service immediately to prevent cross
contamination.

When cleaning the underside of the mattress, insure that no liquid is allowed to seep in to the zipper area
and watershed cover barrier, fluids allowed to come in contact with the zipper may leak in to the mattress.

Check patient’s skin regularly. Consult physician if any redness or skin break occurs. Serious injury could
result if the patient’s skin condition is left untreated.
