GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The
Functional Check
Instructions provide a
quantitative
means of determining whether a Care•Free Companion
Pump can properly inflate its cushion. An alternate,
qualitative
means to check pump and cushion performance is to
follow the HAND CHECK described in the
Care•Free Companion Pump
Instructions for Use.
The
Functional Check
Instructions
require the use of a Tester tool that simulates the cushion that is normally used with
these pumps. If the pump does not meet the outlined requirement, it should be replaced. Repair is not available for
these pumps.
PHYSICAL INSPECTION
1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Check tubing and cap for visible signs of damage (kinks, cuts, and cracks).
WARNING
• Disinfect before use with each patient, utilizing standard hospital protocol and disinfectants. Failure to disinfect may
cause cross-contamination and infection.
• Do not autoclave. Autoclaving will damage the pump.
CAUTION
• The Functional Check is an optional test, however should you choose to perform the test it must be performed only
by qualified technical personnel familiar with good practice for medical device repair.
• Verify proper operation of the pump. Operation of the pump at less than specified flows and pressures may result
in poor or reduced patient therapy.
