7 Maintenance, servicing, repairs, and disposal

7.1 Updating the firmware

The firmware of the C-MAC Monitor and the firmware of the connected video unit can be
updated via the password-protected area.

ü

An SD card with update files has been inserted.

ü

If the video unit firmware is to be updated, a video unit is connected to the side
connection.

ü

The battery is charged or the power supply unit is connected, see chapter 

Connecting

the power supply  [p. 20].

Tap the Firmware update for monitor button to update the C-MAC Monitor firmware.

Tap the Firmware update for video unit button to update the video unit firmware.

ð

The firmware is updated.

The Firmware update for video unit button is only visible if there is an update file on the SD
card that matches the connected video unit.

7.2 Replacing the battery

The battery’s capacity decreases over time. KARL STORZ recommends replacing the battery
after 2 years.

The battery may only be replaced by persons authorized by KARL STORZ.

7.3 Maintenance

Maintenance work may only be carried out by KARL STORZ or a company authorized by
KARL STORZ.

7.4 Safety inspection in accordance with IEC 62353

 WARNING

Risk of injury due to product deficiencies!

Patients, users, and third parties may be injured as a result of deficiencies with the product and
accessories.

Shut down the product.

Have the deficiencies repaired by persons authorized by KARL STORZ.

Regardless of the national accident prevention regulations and testing intervals for medical
devices, for this device safety checks must be performed as repeat inspections according to
IEC 62353 and recorded by a qualified electrician at least once a year. Detailed specifications
regarding the scope and execution of the safety inspection can be found in the service manual.
