Definition of terms used for responsible persons

Driver
This truck may only be driven by suitable per-
sons who are at least 18 years of age, have
been trained in driving, have demonstrated
their skills in driving and handling loads to
the operating company or an authorised rep-
resentative, and have been specifically in-
structed to drive the truck. Specific knowledge
of the truck to be operated is also required.
The training obligations under §3 of the Health
and Safety at Work Act and §9 of the plant
safety regulations are deemed to have been
satisfied if the driver has been trained in
accordance with BGG (General Employers’
Liability Insurance Association Act) 925.
Comply with the national regulations in force
in the country.
Driver rights, duties and rules of be-
haviour
The driver must be trained in his rights and
duties.
The driver must be granted the required rights.
The operator must wear appropriate protec-
tive equipment (protective clothing, safety
footwear, safety helmet, industrial goggles
and safety gloves) suited to the operating con-
ditions, the job and the load to be lifted. The
driver must wear safety footwear for driving
and braking in complete safety.
The drive must be familiar with the operating
instructions, which must remain accessible at
all times.
The driver must:
• Have read and understood the operating
instructions
• Know how to operate the truck in complete
safety
• Be physically and mentally capable of
driving the truck safely
