The HS leg protector is designed for
use when working with hand-operated
hedge trimmers and protects against
cutting and trapping injuries from the
hedge trimmer.
The HS leg protector must be
combined with the associated trousers:
STIHL MultiProtect HS 0088 459 00..,
0088 459 01..
To ensure the highest possible level of
protection and comfort when using the
HS leg protector, it is essential to
observe the following information.
– The HS leg protector combined with
the trousers cannot provide total
protection from injuries by the
hedge trimmer.
– There is no protective function
against injuries with the chain saw
or other hazards (e. g. application in
the construction industry, when
coming into contact with electricity /
power, working with cut-off
machines, pressure washers) .
– The degree of protective function
depends on many influences, such
as e.g. power, stroke-rate, tooth
spacing of the hedge trimmer, type
and contact of the cut-resistance on
the blade, intensity and duration of
the contact with the working tool,
working position crouching /
standing.
– Do not allow the HS leg protector to
come into contact with pointed or
sharp objects, aggressive
substances, hot objects or other
sources of heat, as that will damage
the material.
– If the HS leg protector is very dirty it
should be washed immediately after
taking it off.
– A combination of different protectors
is possible, but should be avoided
for ergonomic reasons and to avoid
heat build-up..
– The HS leg protector combined with
the trousers should not interfere
with the work being done. The
trousers size should be chosen with
this in mind - refer to trousers
Instruction Manual.
– The HS leg protector is no substitute
for a safe working technique.
Incorrect use of the power tool can
result in accidents. It is therefore
essential to observe the safety
regulations issued by the respective
authorities (employer’s liability
