3.4 Rail Operation
3.4.1 Raising the Rail to Full
Height
Grasp the rail top tube in the center of the rail (Figure 3-10A), with
free hand squeeze the rail trigger (Figure 3-10B). Lift the rail all the
way up (Figure 3-10C). Once the rail is all the way up, release the rail
trigger and lower the rail slowly until the trigger engages. Check rail
lock by trying to squeeze the rail trigger, if you cannot squeeze the
trigger the rail is locked securely, release the rail top tube.
NOTE: Be sure rail is locked securely before leaving patient.
3.4.2 Raising the Rail to Half
Height
Grasp the rail top tube in the center of the rail (Figure 3-10A), raise
the rail until it engages. Check rail lock by trying to squeeze the rail
trigger, if trigger will not squeeze, the rail is locked securely. Release
rail top tube.
NOTE: Be sure rail is locked securely before leaving patient.
3.4.3 Lowering the Rail
Grasp the rail top tube in the center of the rail, with free hand
squeeze the rail trigger (Figure 3-10C) while lifting slightly on the rail.
This should allow the rail trigger to release the trigger lock. Lower the
rail slowly (Figure 3-11). If “half height” is desired, release the rail
trigger as soon as the rail starts lowering. If “full down” is desired
continue to squeeze the trigger until the rail is all the way down.
NOTE: Be sure rail is locked securely before leaving patient.
NOTE: Never leave the patient unattended with the rail down.
