8.3
Installation
8.3.1 Connection of the Auxiliary Power
8.3.2 Connecting the FO Cable
Standardized SC plugs are used for the switch.
• Insert the fibre optic cabel into the SC plug connector of the transmission and reception
channel and ensure that the plug locks into place.
• Observe the notes for routing the fibre optic cables! (See "Project Engineering"
Chapter)
8.3.3 Connecting the RJ45
• Use retaining hooks to connect Ethernet cables with standard RJ45 plug connectors
to the switch's RJ45 sockets. This prevents the connection from accidentally being
loosened.
• Secure the connection line against tensile load and scuffing.
8.3.4 Earthing
Operation under difficult conditions, such as, in particular, on ships, requires
additional measures to be taken for correct installation, depending on the
place of use. Further information and instructions on this can be obtained
from your regional sales contact on request.

• Connect the auxiliary energy
(nominal voltage = 24 V DC,
see data sheet) to terminals VDC1
(or redundantly to VDC2) and GND.
Observe the technical data and
connection cross-section of the
electric lines when doing so.
• Secure the pluggable terminals on
the device using screws to prevent
them from loosening
(tightening torque 0.5 to 0.6 Nm).
• Secure the connection line against
tensile load and scuffing.
Remove the dust caps and protective caps on plug connectors only
immediately prior to connection to prevent getting the transmission and
reception elements dirty!

• Earth the device using the DIN rail.
• The device can optionally be earthed
via the earth connection on the supply
connector or earthing screw.
(Use the standard terminal for
M4 screws; max. 3.3 Nm tightening
torque)
