6.2
"Frequency" or "Counter" Operating Mode
In the "Counter with direction" or "Frequency with direction" operating mode, two adjacent
channels are operated together. Thereby, the following channel assignment applies:
• First channel (8, 10, 12, 14) = signal value (1 or 0)
• Second channel (9, 11, 13, 15) = direction (0 = forward, 1 = backward)

Channels may be connected in parallel to increase the power output.
This results in new safety data (see "Technical data" chapter).
Optionally, non-used channels with resistors (simple apparatus for
intrinsically safe circuits according to EN 60079-11) can be equipped in
rder to suppress the error messages of the respective channels.
(Resistors are available as accessories!)
For the "Frequency" or "Counter" operating mode only channels 8 to 15
are used.
