An early detection of home fires with the help of smoke alarm devices can save lives and avoid high
property damage, since home fires are often smoldering fires with ongoing strong smoke formation and
toxic fumes prior to bursting into blazing flames. The photoelectric cell installed in the stabo smoke alarm
device checks the ambient air for smoke particles which occur in the event of a fire. Both an optical (rapidly
flashing LED) and an acoustic alarm sound (piezosiren 85 dB (A)/3m) are triggered if a certain smoke
particle concentration is reached. With the help of the transmitter/receiver unit of the smoke alarm device
(basic module), a radio connection with other stabo wireless smoke alarm devices can be set up (frequency
range: 868 MHz). If smoke particles are detected by one of the detectors, all interlinked detectors trigger
an alarm such that the alarm signal can be heard better, for instance, even with closed room doors or in
other floors of the house.
However, the alarm signaling device cannot detect neither heat, nor gas nor fire. By using a smoke alarm
device, a fire can neither be avoided nor extinguished.
