Tutorial
This tutorial covers the most important features of the EP-4
Stimulator. It will take you through the protocols and give
you some experience in changing and storing values within a
function. It supplements the information in the reference
section of this manual and should take less than an hour to
complete. Before you begin the tutorial, set up the EP-4 as
described in Chapter 2:
EP-4 Stimulator Installation.
To begin this tutorial:
• Turn on the power switch of the touch screen
computer (if not already on).
• Turn the power switch of the stimulation
module to the “On” position using the power
switches on the front and back panels. Wait for
the self test to complete.
• Turn “On” (push) the stimulus output switches.
The Stimulus output switches are provided as a convenient
way to physically disconnect the stimulator from the patient.
They are normally left in the “On” position during a study.
System Initialization
Each time the EP-4 system is turned on, the touch screen
computer and the stimulation module perform a self-test.
Turning the EP-4 stimulator off and on will not necessarily
initiate another self test unless it has been more than 12
hours since the last one.
The EP-4 will attempt to call your attention to important
messages by displaying a message window on the display. If
at anytime the stimulator is not doing what you think it
