2.7 Optional Functions
The following functions may be available if the system is equipped with
the respective external controls and configured accordingly.
Muting Alerts Remotely
On alert, the mute control may be actuated from a remote device (e.g. a
central alert panel). The audible alert is then remotely muted for a fixed
time period of 30 seconds.
Resetting/Acknowledging a BNWAS Alarm
If connected to a Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System (BNWAS),
the NAVIKNOT 600 SD automatically resets the watch alarm timer when-
ever a key is pressed on the unit ('dead man alarm').
Should a watch alarm be given, press any key at the NAVIKNOT 600 SD
to acknowledge the alarm and reset the watch alarm timer.
Activating Double-Ended Ferry Mode
For the double-ended ferry mode, a switch has to be installed to transfer
control between the forward and aft steering positions. If this mode is
active, the speed indication at the display and within the transmitted
VBW message (water referenced and ground referenced speed data), is
with reversed sign.
Note
A locally or remotely muted alert remains in the pending (unacknowl-
edged) state for a fixed time period of 30 seconds.
The alert is indicated as pending in the alert display area until the alert is
acknowledged at the NAVIKNOT CDU or the cause of the alert is elimi-
nated.
Note The speed data within the VTG message (course over ground and ground
speed), provided by GPS, is per definition always positive.
Note In most installations where the double-ended ferry mode is used, it will
be automatically controlled via a general take-over system which trans-
fers control between the forward and aft steering positions.
