Problem:

Cisco added a feature to assist clients with roaming by sending an adjacent AP list after they associate.
The NetLink PTB800/810 phone will not acknowledge the adjacent AP packet after it exceeds 250 bytes

.

Description:

Cisco access points running version 12.2 (11)JA software or higher will send a packet with a list of
adjacent access points to each client after it associates.  This packet is intended to assist some clients in
fast roaming.  The SpectraLink phone does not use this packet in the decision process for roaming and
will discard the packet when it is received.  If the Cisco access point sends the SpectraLink phone an
“adjacent AP” packet that exceeds 250 bytes the phone will not acknowledge the packet which will lead
to the access point de-authenticating the phone.

Resolution:

Customers using PTB800/810 phones need to use a Cisco access point software below 12.2 (11)JA to
assure this incompatibility does not occur.
