Audio Extractor HDMI/Cinch/TOSLINK
Item no. 98 93 46
If you switch your AV devices and the audio extractor on/off with a power strip, it is therefore un-
necessary to switch the audio extractor on again manually every time.
If the audio extractor needs to be switched on or off manually, press the “Power” button brie
fl
y.
• Use the “Bitstream” sliding switch to choose the desired function:
“TV” = Audio signals up to LPCM7.1
Audio signal of the HDMI input is looped through to the HDMI output (no audio signal at the TOSLINK output
or the analogue stereo output)
“Bitstream” = Audio signals up to Dolby 5.1
Audio signal of the HDMI input is forwarded to the HDMI output and to the optical TOSLINK output
“2CH LPCM” = Audio signals up to LPCM 2CH
Audio signal of the HDMI input are forwarded to the HDMI output, to the optical TOSLINK output and to the
analogue stereo output
Depending on the switch setting on the audio extractor, select the corresponding audio signal on
the playback device.
• Turn on the audio extractor via the “Power” button. At this, the “Power” LED on the top lights up.
• Switch on the monitor/television and all other devices.
• The green “LINK” LED stays lit when the HDMI connection between input and output is active.
Handling
• Use is only permitted in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one. The conden-
sation that forms might damage the product under certain circumstances. The wall plug transformer also
poses a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and putting it to use.
This may take several hours.
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transportation:
- Excessive humidity or damp
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or
fl
ammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows,
- Strong magnetic
fi
elds such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers
• Any maintenance or repair work may be performed only by an authorised repair shop.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is neither kinked nor pinched.
Tips and Notes
• Set the desired function using the sliding switch on the side of the audio extractor. In this way, the HDMI
receives information through the so-called EDID (“Extended Display Identi
fi
cation Data”) about which audio
format is supported.
If no sound is audible, check the correct audio setting on the playback device.
• In the “TV” setting, the signal that is present at the HDMI input is looped through to the HDMI output; no
audio signal is available at the TOSLINK or stereo cinch output.
Cleaning
Prior to cleaning the device, pull the plug-in power unit out of the mains outlet.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these can cause dis-
colouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic devices do not constitute household waste.
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.

Intended use
The product is used to uncouple an audio signal from an HDMI signal. The audio signal is then available
through a stereo cinch output or an optical TOSLINK output. The HDMI signal is looped through and can be
used further.
The external wall plug transformer enclosed is used to supply the power.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
We do not assume any liability for material damage and personal injury caused by im-
proper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty
will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modi
fi
cation of the product is not permitted for safety and approval
reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• The product is not a toy. Devices operated using mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of children.
Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product should become damp or
wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
Wall plug transformers have the potential to cause a fatal electric shock!
• The design of the wall plug transformer complies with Protection Class II. Use only a standard mains socket
as the power source for the wall plug transformer.
The mains socket into which the wall plug transformer is plugged must be easily accessible.
• Use only the external power transformer supplied to power the audio extractor.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Hold it on the sides of the
casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• If the wall plug transformer is damaged, do not touch it; there is danger to life from electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the wall plug transformer is connected (switch off at
the corresponding circuit breaker or, for example remove the safety fuse or switch off at the corresponding
RCD protective switch, so that the socket is fully disconnected).
You can then unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty wall plug trans-
former in an environmentally friendly way; do not use it any more. Replace it with a wall plug transformer of
the same design.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous plaything for
children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental falls, even from a low
height.
Connection and Getting Started
• For audio output, an analogue connection (2 cinch sockets) and a digital optical TOSLINK socket are avail-
able. Depending on which output you want to use, a corresponding connection cable is required.
Connect the two cinch sockets (red = stereo signal right, white = stereo signal left) of the audio extractor
with an appropriate cable to the analogue input of a suitable playback or recording device (e.g. stereo
system).
If you use the TOSLINK output, connect it with an optical cable to the corresponding input e.g. of an ampli-
fi
er.
• Connect the HDMI input (“HDMI In”) to the playback device, e.g. a Blu-ray player.
• Connect the HDMI output (“HDMI Out”) with a suitable HDMI-compatible cable to the HDMI input e.g. of a
television.
• Connect the low voltage plug from the enclosed wall plug transformer to the corresponding socket on the
back of the audio extractor.
• Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket.
The audio extractor then switches on automatically; the blue “Power” LED on the top of the audio extractor
lights up, and the green “LINK” LED blinks once brie
fl
y.
