Dump Load Wiring
Refer to the figures below and wire the resistive “dump” load for your system voltage. Sufficient jumper wires are
provided with the Whisper Controller such that any 12, 24, 36 and 48 volt configuration can be accomplished.
24 and 36 Volt Systems 12 Volt Systems 48 Volt Systems
Once startup is successful and the red LED can be cycled by toggling the Diversion Switch, then set the switch to
“Stop” (Red LED on) and connect the turbine wires to the controller (order of the turbine wires is not important).
With the Red LED is on, the turbine will not spin as long as at least two of its wires are connected. For further opera-
tional information refer to Whisper Controller Operation on page 22.
Optional Anemometer Connection
The Whisper Controller has been designed to accommodate a Model #40 anemometer, manufactured by NRG. Other
equivalent anemometers may work, compare manufacturers specifications.
A terminal block on the circuit board is the connection point for the two anemometer signal wires.
The terminal block
connections are l/-, the polarity should be observed since some anemometers require specific polarity connec-
tions. A ground shield (if applicable) should be connected to the controller’s grounding terminal.
To achieve the most meaningful air speed data the anemometer should be mounted on the turbine tower as near as pos-
sible to the turbine without entering the turbine’s sphere of operation. See the manufacturer’s recommended installation
instructions.
