Chapter 8 SCSI Commands
8.6.3.1. Device capabilities page
The Device Capabilities Page (Table 8.6.3.1.1) defines the characteristics of the
Element Types implemented by the autoloader. This information tells the host
what functions are allowed to the MOVE MEDIUM command.
Table 8.6.3.1.1 : Device capabilities page
A Parameters Savable (PS) bit of 1 indicates that there is a function to save this
Mode Page in non-volatile memory. Because the data in this Mode Page is
fixed, the PS bit is always 0.
In the fields of this Mode Page, the following abbreviations are used to indicate
an Element Type.
MT: medium transport element.
ST: storage element.
I/E: import export element.
DT: data transfer element.
In this description, XX and YY are abbreviations for Element Types.
A StorXXbit of 1 indicates that Element Type XX has a function to
accommodate independent cartridges. A StorXXbit of 0 indicates that while
Element Type XX can temporarily accommodate cartridges of other Element
Types, independent accommodation is not possible.
An XX->YY bit of 1 indicates that a setting of Element Type XX as Source
Element Address and Element Type YY as Destination Element Address as a
function of the MOVE MEDIUM command supported by the autoloader is
possible. An XX->YY bit of 0 indicates that this is not possible. When set in this
combination, they are treated as invalid parameters by the MOVE MEDIUM
command and terminated with ILLEGAL REQUEST status.
