Chapter 7 SCSI Interface
7.1.5. RESET Condition
The autoloader never applies a bus reset.
RESET Handling
When a reset condition occurs, the autoloader carries out the following
processes:
a) Hardware initialization
b) Internal parameter initialization
c) Position measurement
d) Building cassette data
UNIT ATTENTION Condition
When a BUS DEVICE RESET message, hard reset, or power-on reset occurs,
the autoloader issues a UNIT ATTENTION condition to each LUN and
initiator. In the following conditions, the autoloader also issues a UNIT
ATTENTION condition to the affected LUNs. The UNIT ATTENTION
condition is held for the affected LUNs until cleared by the initiator.
a) The door is opened and media may have been changed.
b) A cleaning operation is performed from the operating panel.
c) A mode parameter is changed by another initiator.
d) The firmware is updated.
e) A mode parameter in non-volatile memory is changed by an initiator.
The autoloader never queues more than one UNIT ATTENTION condition with
the same ASC/ASCQ for each initiator.
The autoloader differentiates the ASC/ASCQ according to the cause of the reset
as follows.
Response message
ASC/ASCQ
Power On Occurred
29/01
SCSI Bus Reset Occurred
29/02
BUS DEVICE RESET Function Occurred 29/03
Internal Firmware Reboot
29/04
Target Response to Commands for Multiple LUNs
The autoloader gives a correct response to INQUIRY and TEST UNIT READY
commands with respect to a LUN other than zero, without affecting the
execution of commands by other LUNs. For example, the execution of a MOVE
MEDIUM command with respect to LUN0 does not affect an INQUIRY
command to LUN1.
