Cause
The PICTURE INFO or OPTION
screen is displayed.
The AUTO PLAY screen is
displayed.
The unit was subjected to strong noise
during operation, due to mechanical
shock, excessive static electricity,
irregular power supply from lightning,
etc. (“READ ERR” message appears.)
The data file on the disc is damaged
or erased. (“FILE ERR” message
appears.)
The LCD is in standby mode.
The LCD is turned off.
The display mode is off.
“SOUND MODE” is set to “OFF” on
the OPTION screen.
No narration is recorded for the picture
being displayed.
No narration is recorded for the
pictures in the selected album.
“SOUND MODE” is set to “OFF” on
the OPTION screen.
No BGM is recorded for the selected
album.
No picture is displayed.
An MD which cannot be recorded

inserted.
Countermeasure
Only the menu operation is possible.
Press the CANCEL/MIRROR key to
quit the PICTURE INFO or OPTION
screen.
Only the Auto Play menu operation is
possible.
Press the CANCEL/MIRROR key to
quit the AUTO PALY screen.
Operate the unit again.
Eject and reinsert the disc. If the
problem persists, use another disc.
Press any key.
Press the LCD ON/OFF key.
Press the DISPLAY key.
Set it to “ON.”
Play back a picture with a narration
recording.
Play back an album containing
pictures with a narration recording.
Set it to “ON.”
Play back an album with a BGM
recording.
Display a picture to be recorded, and
press the MENU key twice.
Replace the MD with another one
which can be recorded.

MD DATA for playback, Hybrid MD DATA and audio MiniDisc cannot be used for recording.
Symptom
