When using the unit in [73GB×3]
mode, select the drive on which the
video clips are stored.

Power this unit on by pressing the
power switch for about three seconds.
The computer recognizes this unit as
one of its hard disks.
In Windows, the unit is added as a
local disk in My Computer.
In Macintosh, a “NO NAME” or
“Untitled” device icon is created on the
desktop. (You can change the device
name freely.)
Copying video clips
Operate from the computer to copy video
clips stored on the unit. For computer
operations, use the XDCAM EX Clip
Browsing Software.
For more information on operations, refer to the
User’s Guide of the XDCAM EX Clip Browsing
Software.
Notes
• Be sure to copy video clips to the
computer before editing them. Direct
editing of video clips on this unit may
result in incorrect recording and playback
on the camcorder.
• Do not format or defragment this unit
from the computer.
• Some computers may not be able to boot
or return from hibernation with this unit
connected.
Disconnecting the unit from
the computer
For Windows

Click the “Safely Remove Hardware”
icon on the Windows taskbar.

Select “USB Mass Storage Device
(X:)” from the menu that appears.

Disconnect the USB cable when the
message notifying that it is safe
appears.
For Macintosh
Drag the icon for the unit on your desktop to
the trash can (eject icon). When the icon for
the unit is in the Finder, click the eject icon
next to it.
Using the PXU-MS240
By inserting the PHU connection cable into
the card slot on the PXU-MS240 Mobile
Storage Unit, you can connect this unit to
the PXU-MS240, and copy data from this
unit onto the PXU-MS240.
Note on Copying
The copying speed of video clips stored on
this unit may be slower if the unit is being
used in a high-temperature environment
(i.e., close to 40 °C (104 °F)) or if the unit
has been running for an extended period of
time. This is not a malfunction.
