When the cage has been slotted into position and the
all the connectors are re-attached, carefully wind any
excess wire into a loop and secure in position with
cable-ties.

Attach the wire loop to the side of the cage using the
stick-on clip provided to hold the top of the loop,
ensuring the wires are clear of the Motherboard and
taking care not to obscure the air vents in the power
supply or rear panel.
Checks after replacement
After replacement, allow several seconds for the unit to
recognize the module and determine whether it is working
properly. Confirm that the rear panel green PSU LEDs are
lit, indicating that the modules are working and supplying
power.
S-ATA backplane replacement
• Extra care must be taken when handling and storing
the backplane boards. The backplane board
components can be damaged by rough handling.
When removing the backplane boards from the
storage system, place them on a padded surface.
Never drop the backplane boards.
• Always wear a wrist grounding strap when handling
equipment with static-sensitive components
Backplane removal

Power off the unit (see
) and remove the front and rear lids (see
“Front lid removal” on page 83
) to access the parts.

Remove the Flat Head, M4x10 mm screws from both
sides of the chassis.

Fully extend the slide rail set, as shown below, to
reveal the mounting screws on two sides of the chassis
that support the backplane.

Unplug all the cables attached to the backplane boards.

Remove the system fan mounting bracket by
unscrewing the two Flat Head, #6-32x5 mm screws on
both sides of the chassis as shown. Carefully lift up the
system fan mounting bracket.

Remove the two Flat Head, #6-32x5 mm screws on
both sides of the chassis on the backplane mounting
brackets.
