Overview
The HDC-700 Color Video Camera is a CCD-based
color video camera designed for studio use. The
camera may be used with devices such as a camera
control unit, video selector, master setup unit, and/or
remote control panel to form an HDC-700 series
camera system. Also, a CNU-700 Camera Command
Network Unit may be used to create a system capable
of controlling up to 96 video cameras.
Features
The HDC-700 has the following features:
Good usability
A new body design allows the viewfinder to sit lower
than on previous models, reducing the parallax
between the viewfinder and the lens. The body height
is also lower, reducing obstruction to the camera or
viewfinder field of view, and increasing overall
usability.
High performance
High image quality: The camera has a feature set
worthy of a studio CCD camera, and provides
high image quality.
High signal-to-noise ratio: A high-performance
CCD and superior circuitry and packaging
technology give the camera a high signal-to-noise
ratio.
Wide dynamic range: Automatic or manual knee
point and knee slope control provide improved
reproducibility of high luminance areas, up to
600% brighter than the darkest areas.
High sensitivity: The camera achieves a sensitivity
of f8 at 2000 lx. This allows a 100% video level
to be achieved with a video gain of 12 dB when
the subject is illuminated with only 7.5 lx.
High vertical resolution: The EVS (Enhanced
Vertical Definition System) provides a vertical
resolution of up to 1000 lines. The Super EVS
feature allows adjustment of vertical resolution to
anywhere from 500 to 1000 lines.
Automatic setup
The HDC-700 features a microprocessor-based
automatic setup function and a filing system which
allows storage of various adjustment data. These
features allow quick, accurate setup and reduce the
time required for maintenance.
Electronic shutter
The HDC-700 has a six-speed electronic shutter (
1
/
100
to
1
/
2000
sec). Choosing the appropriate shutter speed
allows capture of video with minimal blurring even
when shooting quickly moving subjects. Further, the
ECS (Extended Clear Scan) feature allows setting the
shutter speed in 510 steps from
1
/
30
to
1
/
58.3
sec, and
from
1
/
60
to
1
/
7000
sec. This allows shooting of screens
such as computer displays without dark bands.
Wide range of audio functions
The camera has two microphone channels, two
intercom channels, and two program audio channels,
and can handle input and output of digital audio
signals in AES and EBU formats. The two intercom
channels may be switched between connection to a
producer line and an engineer line using a switch on
the rear panel. The camera also has a monitor function
which allows the microphone and line input audio to
be routed to the intercom headphones.
Self-diagnosis function
A built-in self-diagnosis feature reduces the time
required for troubleshooting.
Display functions
A built-in character generator allows text display of
zoom position, camera settings, and warning messages
on the viewfinder screen. Box cursor, center marker,
safety zone, zoom position mark, and 4:3 marker
display capabilities are also provided.
