5.5 Selecting from the Vehicle Menu
Depending on the make and model, a number of options may be available (Figure 5-8).

Vehicle menu options vary and may include the following:
•
Codes Menu
—displays a submenu of choices for viewing and clearing diagnostic trouble
code (DTC) records.
•
Codes Only
—displays a list of DTCs stored in the selected control module.
•
Service Codes
—displays a list of DTCs stored in the selected control module.
•
Data Display
—displays data parameter information from the selected control module.
•
Data Only
—displays data parameter information from the selected control module.
•
Generic Functions
—displays a submenu of OBD-II tests available for the vehicle.
•
Functional Tests
—displays a submenu of tests available for the vehicle.
•
Service Reset
—displays a submenu of options for resetting service reminder lamps.
•
Stop Communication
—electronically disconnects the scan tool from the vehicle.
5.5.1 Codes Menu
Selecting
Codes Menu
opens a submenu (Figure 5-9 on page 26) that typically includes:
•
Trouble Codes
—displays a submenu of choices for viewing DTC records.
•
Clear Codes
—erases DTC records from the active electronic control module (ECM) on
the vehicle.
•
Freeze Frame/Failure Records
—displays OBD-II required data from the vehicle ECM.
•
DTC Status
—displays ECM records for the specified trouble code.
Selection names and the number of selections will vary by make, model and year. Refer to the
appropriate Vehicle Communication Software Manual for details.
