(5) IO-Link master configuration
It is necessary to set the JXC controller to the IO-Link master.
First, supply power to the IO-Link master and the power supply L+/L- for communication with IO-Link.
Then, install the IODD (I/O Device Description) file for JXCL1 in the IO-Link master configuration tool
for setting the JXC controller to the master.
The IODD file can be downloaded from the SMC website.
(6) Establishment of IO-Link communication
When the setting of the IO-Link master and JXCL1 controller is completed and the IO-Link
communication is established, the LED
’s on the front of the controller will be set as shown in the table
below.
IO-Link communication starts when the power supply L+/L- for IO-Link communication and the C24V
control power are supplied to the JXC controller.

Communication between IO-Link master and controller is not established when the COM red LED is
on.

Check if the communication speed of the IO-Link master and the JXC controller and the information of
the host computer are correctly set.
(7) Setup of the operation parameters
Set up the step data (the operation pattern to specify the target position, speed, etc.) by using the
controller setting software, the teaching box, or IO-Link communication.
When the step data (SMC parameters) is to be changed via IO-Link communication, be sure to
upload all parameters from the JXCL1 controller before making the change.
When the step data is changed using the controller setting software or teaching box, turn off the
IO-Link communication power supply L+/L- connected to the JXC controller and turn it on again to
reflect the SMC parameters.
