SERIAL INPUT
The SMC IMU has two RS232 serial ports for input from external devices.
The ports can be used for

Aiding in vessel turns; input from GPS, Speed log

Heading aiding; Gyrocompass or GPS

Remote heave for AHC (Active Heave Compensation) in crane applications; Encoders via PLC
(Programmable Logic Controllers)

Output motion sensor reading data (available from firmware version 3.22 and later)
