DEVICE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Before installing the fire damper check it for damage during transport or storage.
Check if the damper is able to open and close (full open and close position). In the case of
WKZ-O dampers open the damper with the actuator key. Full opening and closing shall be smooth (not
irregular). Do not pull the damper blade in order to open/close the damper. It may cause permanent
damage to the device, which is not covered by the warranty.
Before the installation verify the gap between the bottom blade and the inside part of the body
under the blade and also between upper blade and the inside part of the body above the blade. The
gap size can not be less than 4 mm.
Before the installation secure the damper with a foil or other material to protect it against dirt
and consequently damage to the elements of the damper.
To maintain EIS240 declared resistance, insulation and smoke leakage, the damper should be
mounted in walls, which were tested and rated as EI240.
It is acceptable to use WKZ-O dampers in walls with other fire resistance rating but in such a
case it should be kept in mind that EI fire resistance rating of the whole WKZ-O damper installation is
equal to the fire resistance rating of the lowest rated element of the system.
Ducts made of flammable or non-flammable materials can be connected to the fire damper. The
ducts must be installed in such a way that, in the event of fire, they do not transfer the load to the fire
damper. Duct lengthening in the event of fire can be compensated by supports and elbows.
NOTE: The distance between fire dampers and between fire dampers and structural members must be
provided in accordance with EN 1366-2 test standard:
a)
min. 200 mm between the fire dampers installed in separate ventilation duct systems,
b)
min. 75 mm between the fire damper and the structural element (wall/ceiling).
