SMART-SCAN
TM
OPERATION MODES
Smart-Scan
TM
currently supports four operation modes, Most users
will only use a single default mode for their daily work, but can quickly switch
modes by scanning one of the square barcodes from the following list:
Smart-UID
operates only on data matrix codes, analyzing them for
compliance to the UID content requirements of MIL-STD-130. Valid
UID scans can be formatted via 4 different output ‘modes’ – plus toggled
options for Error Reporting and/or ATA Spec2000 conversions.
Raw UID
- Actual characters within a
UID bar code
UID Error Reporting
ON/OFF Toggle
Formatted UID
– Removes appended
data & resets to EID/PN/SN order
Concatenated UII
- Formatted for
DOD Registry use
Spec 2000 Support
ON/OFF Toggle
Parsed UID
– User defined output
(see uidscanner.com)
The following beep sequences tell users what was scanned:
(1)=Valid UID; (2)=Valid P/N; (1+2)=Valid UID with ‘appended’ data.
(4)=Invalid Code – no output unless Error Reporting is used.
Raw Output
should be used if you need to scan Data Matrix bar
codes that do NOT use the MIL-STD-130 syntax requirements
Smart-Lookup
performs a standard “Data Cross-Reference” from
the scan value, using a simple user-defined text file database. Refer
to
www.uidscanner.com
for details.
Smart-Web
performs an automated web browser search based
on an analysis of the scan data for length, type, etc. Currently
supported data scans include:
•
Tracking numbers from FedEx or UPS
•
Valid Federal National Stock Number or Part Number
•
Valid Vendor Cage Code
Return to Factory ‘CodeViewer’ Mode :
Although we believe you’ll
prefer Smart-Scan, users can scan this code to return to Code Corp’s
base “CodeViewer” functionality (refer to Code Manuals for use).

BASIC SETUP
Here are some quick configuration changes should the ‘as-shipped’
defaults not meet your needs. Smart-Scan
TM
technology offers users the
quickest and most flexible means of configuring prefix/suffix, and custom UID
parsing. Complete documentation is available at
www.uidscanner.com
To Change Default Power-Up Operation Mode :
Scan the desired Operation
Mode from the facing page. Then scan this barcode to set this
mode as the new default upon power-up.
Current prefix,
suffix, and other relevant mode settings are also saved.
Prefix/Suffix :
Commonly, users exclude prefix but add a suffix such as –
<None> <Enter> <Tab>
UID Parsing Options :
Smart-UID offers users the ability to output up to 16
different formatted UID parameters: (see
www.uidscanner.com
)
•
Output String Formatting: <Enter>, <Tab>
•
UID Data: Raw UID, Formatted UII
•
UID Parameters: Format, Construct, IAC
•
UID Data Segment Prefixes & Values: Vendor, PN, Sequence
•
Time/Date ‘Stamp’
•
Support for non-UID Part Number bar codes.
Other UID Parsing Examples –
S/N only
Raw <Tab> UII
‘Full’ Report
CR2500 Batch Upload:
After gathering data via a cordless CR2500,
connect scanner & PC via a USB cable, position the cursor where
the data should be inserted, and scan this code to upload the data.
