264-SS/327-SS Heat Pump Hot Water System

Installation Instructions

(all models after April 08)

Site Selection:

1.  The site should take minimisation of hot water run lengths

into account. If it is to be connected to a ring-main then this
is less important.

2.  The site should be well ventilated to supply abundant

ambient air to the heat pump.

3.  With replacement/additional refrigeration piping - the heat

pump can be mounted up to 7metres away from, & up to
5meters above or below, the tank.

4.  If the heat-pump is situated in a narrow walkway with a

solid gate at each end, the resultant “well” will fill with cold
air - lowering the efficiency of the system. If no other site is
available, replace the panels on one or both of the end
gates with trellis.

5.  If the site is earth or sloping paving, put down 2 x 600mm

square concrete slabs - levelled - on a sand or cement
base.

Installation:

Put the tank & the heat pump into position, plumb water connections, and fill tank.

Plumber:

Plumbing the tank is very similar to an electric HWS. If on town water, fit a 500kpa pressure
regulator.
The heat-pump unit will produce condensation that will drain from the bottom. If placed on a paved
area

you will have to find a way to drain it away.

If you must install a tempering valve, it should be a high performance “green cap”. Do not install a
tempering valve on the input to a ring main.

Refrigeration connections:
Both the tank & the pipes are pre-charged so there is no need to do any evacuation or charging.
Work gently with the refrigeration pipes, use pipe benders to ensure easy access to connection
points. Do not kink the refrigeration pipes. Care must be taken to ensure pipes are not restricted
during the bending process.

If the refrigeration pipes get kinked do not proceed

. Contact

Skyline Energy and order a replacement pipe.

Carefully unroll the pre-charged refrigeration pipes. Make sure pipe insulation and refrigeration
pipes are not cut.

Remove the lower connection cover on the tank (4 screws).
Bring the 2 insulated refrigeration tubes out from behind the pump & ‘stroke’ them into position to

go up through the holes in the cover

, & connect with the mating halves of the one-shot couplers

on the tank. Important: ENSURE GOOD ALIGNMENT TO PREVENT CRUSHING THE OLIVES
OR CROSS-THREADING. Prepare for connection of the smaller diameter liquid pipe first.
Proceed with connection of the larger diameter vapor pipe when this is completed.
