OPERATION
1.
Use the following procedure to test the system before each use.
a.
Press Battery-Test button. If alarm is weak or fails to sound,
replace 9-volt battery and press button again. If alarm is still weak or
fails to sound, discontinue use of alarm.
b.
Seat patient and secure belt by placing the magnet (located
under red loop) over metal strip. (Illustration 3) Battery indicator light
should flash. If light fails to flash, replace battery and make certain that
the telephone-style plug is securely connected to the alarm unit. Retest.
If battery indicator light still fails to flash, discontinue use of system.
c.
Open magnetic closure. Alarm will sound. Secure closure.
Alarm will silence itself. It is now in the monitoring mode. If alarm fails
to sound when magnetic
closure is opened, check
plug connection and/or
replace battery. Retest. If
alarm again fails to
sound, discontinue use
of system.
2.
Select high or low vol-
ume.
3.
Alarm is activated
when patient opens the
magnetic closure. Press
the Auto-Reset button to
silence the alarm. The
alarm is now in stand-by
mode. Do not secure the magnetic closure when the system is not
being used to monitor a patient. Securing the closure will cause the
battery indicator light to flash and shorten battery life.
4.
The alarm will automatically go into the monitoring mode when the
magnetic closure is secured.
There is no on/off switch.
5.
After the closure is secured, adjust the belt to a proper fit around
patient’s hips.The wheelchair user may easily release the belt by plac-
ing his/her hand through the red loop and pulling up on the end.

INSTALLATION
1.
Remove the rearmost screws
from the left and right sides of
the wheelchair seat. Insert the
screws through the grommets
on the ends of the two belt sec-
tions. Refasten screws to the
wheelchair. (Illustration 1)
2.
Place the telephone-style
connector cord through the
space between the wheelchair
seat and backrest. Make certain
that it is away from wheels and
other moving parts.
3.
Insert telephone-style plug into
Modular Receptacle on right side
of alarm. (Illustration 2) Alarm will
sound. Press Auto-Reset to
silence alarm.

ment guaranteed for one year following the date of pur-
chase.

The E-Z Release belt with Velcro

closure and mag-
netic switch is replacement guaranteed for one year fol-
lowing the date of purchase.
These guarantees cover defects in materials and work-
manship under conditions of normal use. Please return
defective part to dealer from whom it was purchased. The
dealer will send the defective part to Skil-Care and
arrange for shipment of a replacement.
PURPOSE
The ChairPro E-Z Release Belt Alarm is a non-restrictive
wheelchair safety belt with integral magnetic alarm
switch. It is designed to alert caregivers when a patient
attempts to leave or has fallen from the wheelchair.
CAUTIONS
1.
The ChairPro E-Z Release Belt Alarm is not a substi-
tute for proper supervision. Fall-risk residents/patients
should be monitored regularly.
2.
Check battery each time alarm is used. If weak,
replace the 9-volt battery.
3.
LED should flash when the magnetic switch is
engaged. If LED fails to flash, check battery. Replace if
necessary. If LED fails to flash after battery has been
replaced and the plug is determined to be properly con-
nected, discontinue use of device.

SEAT BELT INSTALLATION
WHEELCHAIR BELT INSTALLATION (Grommet)
1. Remove the rearmost screws

2. Remove the grommets from
the screws, place screws
through the grommets at
the ends of both belt
sections, and refasten the
screws to the wheelchair seat.

3. Select either hole in
belt depending upon desired
length, closer holes will yield
a shorter length,
holes closet to the end
will yield a longer length.
4. Attach the two “spade”
connectors on the connector
wire to those on the seat belt.

Note, that for removable arm
wheelchairs it may be easier
to install the belt after the arm
is removed.
5. Place connector cord through the space between
the wheelchair seat and backrest. Make certain that
it is away from wheels and other moving parts.
WHEELCHAIR BELT INSTALLATION (Loop)
1. UnThread the loop end of the belt.
2. Remove the arm of the wheelchair
(if removable arm)
3. Lay belt on
wheelchair while
holding loop end,
place loop end around
the bottom of the
wheelchair (Fig. 1).
4. Place loop and
webbing under both
rectangular rings (Fig. 2)
