excessive wear.
7. Lubricate the wireropes already checked
with lubricant before reinstallation.
Items of Inspection in Three Months
1. Remove the main boom cover and
visually check whether the wireropes
have rust, damage, wear, misuse and
other
abnormal
phenomena
(with
flashlight).
2. Manually lead the wireropes and check
their degree of tension…… The correctly
tensioned wireropes shall be unable or
hard to move.
Items of Inspection in Seven Years
1. Replace
wireropes
and
sheaves
compulsorily.
More inspections are needed in case of
the following conditions:
a. The equipment is exposed to harsh
environment.
b. The boom operates unstably or has
abnormal noise.
c. The equipment is not used for a long
time.
d. The boom is overloaded or has
constant impact load.
e. The boom is exposed to the electric
arc...The inside of the cable may
melt.
Replacement Standard
1. Sheaves and wireropes must be replaced
as a whole set.
2. Wireropes are rusted or corroded.
3. Wireropes are kinked, knotted or
wrinkled.
4. Wireropes at the end of the adjusting
scope.
5. Sheaves are excessively worn.
6. A wirerope bundle has 6 broken
wireropes or a strand in the wirerope
bundle has 3 damaged wireropes, with
one broken, and any other broken at the
end clamps.
Wirerope Tensioning Operation Steps
With the boom fully retracted, remove all
covers and visually check thread fixing device
before any adjustment to wireropes of the
boom assembly and pay attention to
adjustment margin of retracting wireropes and
outstretching wireropes. Besides, pay attention
to positions of all boom sections when the
boom assembly is fully retracted. Carry out
preliminary measurement and compare with
“Figure 4-1 Wirerope Tensioning Drawing”.
Note:
the first telescopic arm is positioned by
the hydraulic cylinder and allows no
adjustment. Wireropes inside the boom
assembly control movement of the second
telescopic arm.
When it is necessary to readjust the position of
the second telescopic arm to meet the
requirement of “Figure 4-1 Wirerope
Tensioning Drawing”, take
appropriate
technical methods to compare thread
adjustment (residual part on the wirerope
fixing part) with the position of each main
boom section. During comparison of the
outstretching system and the retracting system,
the position of each main boom section can be
readjusted to make the wirerope fixing device
more accurately adjusted.
