Wiring
Overview
This section describes wiring for the XSIG card. Audio NAC, DC NAC, Amplifier (Constant and Non-Constant Supervision), and Power Supply Wiring are
included.
Wiring guidelines
Make sure these prerequisites are accounted for before installing the cards:
• Conductors must test free of all grounds.
• All wires must be between 18 AWG (0.8231 mm
2
) and 12 AWG (3.309 mm
2
), or as the local code dictates.
• T tapping is not permitted for any field wiring.
Note:
For guidance regarding proper wiring practice for TrueAlert ES speaker appliances, refer to the Speaker Wiring Application Guidelines in the
ES-
PS IDNAC card Installation Instructions
, 579-1289.
Audio NAC wiring without constant supervision
Provide Audio NAC wiring without constant supervision as shown in Figure 5.

4. 4100-1267
Note:
• Leave the 10 K, 1/2 W resistors (378-030 – brown/black/orange) on the B+ and B- terminals of unused circuits.
• All wiring is between 18 AWG (0.8231 mm
2
) (minimum) and 12 AWG (3.309 mm
2
) (maximum).
• Field wiring is power-limited.
• Maximum speaker load per NAC is 50 W. Maximum current per NAC is 1.5 A. Maximum number of speakers per NAC is 100.
• Shields, when required, are normally connected to 0 V as shown. Alternate shield termination using earth ground is provided on amplifier
chassis.
• Signal wiring must test free of all grounds.
