6.0 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Introduction
The Microstar Precision Air Heater was designed with simplicity in mind. The hardware
is simple to use and easy to maintain.
The load bank allows increases to the applied load on-the-fly.
In this section, you will find:
—
How to properly handle this load bank.
—
How to start the unit.
—
How to apply a load using the equipment.
6.2 Equipment Handling
6.2.1 General Handling Information
When moving the load bank, please keep the device upright and do not transport
on its side. If the unit needs to be lifted, only lift the unit using the handles on the
front or lifting from the bottom of the unit. Do not insert any lifting tools in the
fan grating. Avoid impact while transporting as well as avoid dropping the unit in
general. While the metal casing is quite strong, avoid dropping anything heavy on
the unit.
6.2.2 After-Operation Handling Information
Because of the nature of the load bank’s operation, the unit will be extremely hot.
To prevent burn injury, allow the fan to run for a few minutes without an applied
load at the end of operation. When the unit has cooled, turn the fan off and move
it as necessary.
6.3 Basic Operations
Prior to operating the load bank, ensure that the unit is wired properly based on the
instructions from “5.4 Local Control” on page 14 as well as “2.2 Instruction Placards”
on page 6 for the placard with wiring directions.
6.3.1
Startup
1. When wired appropriately, the unit is ready to apply a load to a test
source.
2. Flip the toggle switch to “On” for the Control Power selection. If the
system is operating properly, you will hear the fan start and the Green
Cooling Active lamp will illuminate.
6.3.2 Applying a Load
1. Flip any load step switches (1-7 relating to desired KW) to “On.” This
step will begin applying your load to the source as each load step is
activated.
