8. Cleaning
DANGER of electric shock !
Pull the mains plug
15
out of the wall
socket before you clean the tea kettle.
• The device (except for the boiling sys-
tem
5
) and the base
14
must not be im-
mersed in water or any other liquids.
WARNING!
Do not use any astringent or
abrasive cleaning agents.
NOTE:
The device should be cleaned after
every use. This prevents deposits of lime-
scale and tannins from forming, which could
otherwise impair the flavour of the tea and
the function of the tea kettle.
1. Pull the mains plug
15
out from the wall
socket before the cleaning process.
2. Allow the device to cool down before
cleaning.
3. For cleaning the glass pot
8
and the
base
14
, use a soft, moistened cloth. In
the case of stubborn stains, dip the cloth in
gentle detergent. Clean the parts of the
boiling system
5
using warm water and
liquid detergent. Use the cleaning
brush
16
supplied with the tea kettle.
4. Remove detergent residue using plenty
of clean water.
Descaling
After some time, the boiling process will re-
sult in limescale being deposited in parts of
the device (depending on the hardness of
the tap water used). You should remove this
at regular intervals, because otherwise the
power consumption of the device will in-
crease.
1. Insert the boiling system
5
.
2. Use a commercially available descaling
agent based on citric acid. Comply with
the instructions on the packaging of the
descaling agent.
3. Pour the solution with the descaling
agent into the glass pot
8
.
4. Wait 10 minutes. Then switch the de-
vice on and allow the solution to flow
through it.
5. Repeat this process if necessary. You
can reuse the used solution once. How-
ever the solution must first cool down
completely.
6. Then allow two to three batches of clean
water to run through the device.
7. Wash the boiling system
5
. Carefully
rinse out the glass pot
8
.
Time intervals for descaling
The intervals for descaling are dependent
on the hardness of the water, and how often
you use the device. Where the hardness of
the water is medium or high, we recommend
descaling monthly.
You can find out the hardness of the water in
the area where you live by inquiring at your
local waterworks.
9. Storage
DANGER for children!
Keep the tea kettle out of the reach
of children.
• Allow the device to cool down before
you put it away.
• Coil up the power cable
15
in the
base
14
.
