MAC Receive Timeouts
MAC CRC32 Failures
EM2420 Resets
When set to non-zero values, these parameters typically indicate issues
in wireless communication between the RSX and WRS.
However, a non-zero value for the
EM2420 CRC16 Failures
parameter
is normal and indicates presence of detected (and properly rejected)
wireless interference.
Channel Changes
Number of times the RSX has auto-channel changed since last
powered-up.
Comm Link Status
Current status of WRS/RSX communications link. When set to
“NORMAL”, RSX has good wireless communication with the WRS. If set
to “FAILED”, issues with wireless communications exist.
Binding Status
Current status of WRS/RSX binding. When set to “BOUND”, RSX is
bound to a WRS. If set to “NOT BOUND”, RSX is not bound to a WRS.
Testing Wireless Communication Quality (TEST)
You can use the TEST command to test quality of wireless communication between the WRS/RSX pair.
This command is especially useful in situations where you move the WRS or RSX and want to see in
real-time how wireless communications are impacted.
To test wireless communications quality for the WRS/RSX pair, type
TEST RSX
a
(
a
= number of
milliseconds (typically 20 or higher) between test messages). The WRS/RSX pair enter a test mode
whereupon the WRS sends a stream of wireless messages to the RSX, and the RSX echoes the
messages back along with the listing of parameters.
For this test, the baud rate for the HyperTerminal session must be 38400 baud. Upon
entering the command, you are prompted to change the baud rate.
Figure 9 is an example summary of the TEST command. As shown in the example, when the WRS is
moved further away from the RSX, RSSI values drop to indicate less quality wireless communications.
