Commissioning the 3RW51 soft starter
Procedure
WARNING
Fire hazard. Short-circuit hazard. Property damage. Can cause death or serious injury.
The soft starter is supplied with a protective cover to prevent foreign parts from entering the
device during installation. Remove the protective cover before commissioning.
1. Install the 3RW51 soft starter. (Page 33)
2. Connect up the 3RW51 soft starter. (Page 58)
3. Parameterize the 3RW51 soft starter according to the application with the setting
suggestions. (Page 74)
If necessary, optimize the setting suggestions step by step. (Page 74)
For example, you can continually adjust the current limiting factor while the motor is starting
up.
4. Optionally, you can run diagnostics (Page 141) including Self-test (user-test) (Page 146) to
test correct functioning of the 3RW51 soft starter.
5. Optionally seal the 3RW51 soft starter with a lead seal. (Page 85)
Result
The 3RW51 soft starter is ready for operation and protected from external access..

Requirements
• Seal, sealing wire and a suitable sealing tool.
