Enabling PROFINET services
PROFINET services must be enabled on the HMI device in the following circumstances:

The HMI device is connected to the PLC via PROFINET.
●
Function keys or buttons are configured as PROFINET IO direct keys in the project.
●
The backlighting of the HMI device is to be controlled with PROFIenergy.
Note
If you enable PROFINET services, you cannot use the RS 422/RS 485 port for serial
operation.
PROFINET IO direct keys and PROFIBUS DP direct keys are mutually exclusive.
Rules for the device name
Within the ETHERNET data network, the device name must be unique and satisfy the DNS
conventions:

The device name may have a maximum of 127 characters.
●
The following characters are allowed:
–
Letters from "a" to "z"
–
Numbers from "0" to "9"
–
Special characters "." and "-"
●
A name component within the device name, for example a string between two points,
may not exceed 63 characters.
●
The device name must not start or end with a the "-" character.
●
The device name may not take the form "n.n.n.n" (n = 0 to 999).
●
The device name must not start with the character sequence "port-xyz-" (x, y, z = 0 to 9).
