Connecting the device to networks
The options for integrating the device into existing or planned system environments and
networks are as follows:
●
PROFINET
●
PROFIBUS/MPI
●
Ethernet
●
Device driver CP16xx.sys
●
PROFINET IO application
●
SIMATIC NET
PROFINET
PROFINET can be operated via:
●
CP1616 IRT (Isochronous Real Time)
●
Standard Ethernet interfaces (RT)
CP 1616 on-board allows you to connect IPCs to Industrial Ethernet. Only one CP 1616 can
be installed in a PC. You will find detailed information in the next section or in CP 1616
onboard communications processor (Page 137).
PROFIBUS/MPI
The isolated PROFIBUS interface can be used to connect distributed field devices or to link
with SIMATIC S7. You will need STEP 7, WinCC, WinCC flexible, WinAC and
SIMATIC NET.
Ethernet
The integrated Ethernet interface can be used for communication and for data exchange with
automation devices such as SIMATIC S7.
You will need STEP 7, WinCC, WinCC flexible, WinAC and SIMATIC NET.
Device driver CP16xx.sys
The device driver enables the Windows network protocols to be connected to the Ethernet
PROFINET controller "CP 1616 onboard" which is optional on the SIMATIC PCs. The
PROFINET interface will act like a 100 Mbit Ethernet interface with a MAC address when
you use this driver. The three RJ45 sockets are connected with each other via a switch.
The driver and the documentation can be found in the document package on the included
USB stick.
