Replacing the motherboard
Requirement
•
The device is fully disconnected from the line voltage, see "Switching off the device
(Page 43)".
•
The device is open, see important information in "Open the device. (Page 53)".
•
An original spare part, that is a motherboard of the same type, see notes in "Accessories
and spare parts (Page 20)".
The motherboard as spare part is supplied without processor and memory modules.
•
You have noted the firmware settings as the configuration data of the device is deleted
when the motherboard is replaced. You can find information on this in the detailed
firmware/BIOS description, see "Important instructions and manuals for operating the

Torx screwdriver T10
•
Torx screwdriver T30, at least 120 mm in length
•
ESD gloves and ESD shoes. Observe the "Repair information (Page 79)", in particular for
electrostatic sensitive devices (ESD).
Procedure
1.
One after another, remove the following components, whose exact position is shown in the
overview "Internal construction of the device (Page 55)":

Air baffle plate, three torx-slotted screws, see section "Internal construction of the

Expansion cards from the slots, see section "Installing and removing expansion cards
(Page 58)".
–
Heat sink of processors, see section "Replacing the processor (Page 88)
".
–
Memory modules (optional), see section "Removing memory modules (Page 62)"
–
M.2 NVMe SSD (optional), see section "Install M.2 NVMe SSD (Page 78)"

Note the assignment of all cables to the motherboard.
3.
Then disconnect all cables from the motherboard.
