Installing/removing expansion modules (M.2)
Note
Requirement for M.2 modules
•
You can find the permitted dimensions for M.2 modules under "Usable expansion modules
(M.2) (Page 60)". If the permissible height is exceeded, contact problems, malfunctions
and installation difficulties cannot be ruled out.

You can find information on which M.2 modules you can install in which slot under
"Usable expansion modules (M.2) (Page 60)".
Requirements
•
You are familiar with the information on M.2 modules and the conditions of use of M.2
modules, see "Usable expansion modules (M.2) (Page 60)".
•
The device is open, see important information regarding this under "Opening the Device
(Page 53)" or "Open device with expansion slots (Page 55)".
•
The M.2 NVMe SSDs in the SIMATIC IPC Slider have been removed, see "M.2 NVMe SSD in
the SIMATIC IPC Slider (Page 66)".
•
Adapter plates: If the M.2 module to be used has external interfaces, you can use the
adapter plates supplied with the M.2 module to install the connectors.

Screwdrivers of type Torx T10 and T8
Procedure - Installation
1. Remove the SSD drive bay. To do this, re-
move the designated screw with the
screwdriver of the type Torx T10 and pull
out the SSD drive bay upwards.
Put down the SSD drive bay carefully on
the side.
2. Remove the designated screw on the
motherboard with the screwdriver of the
type Torx T8.
