CFU PA: Startup of field devices depending on the configuration

You can find information on the PROFIBUS PA profiles and Selected IO in section "CFU PA: 

PA profiles for field devices on PROFIBUS PA (Page 27)".

Field device detected at CFU PA startup

The power supply of the field devices is enabled in the default parameter assignment of the 

CFU PA. 
1. During the startup phase of the field device, the green LED flashes on the fieldbus 

connection. 

2. When the startup phase is successfully completed, the green LED is continuously lit. 

Communication between the CFU PA and the field device is then possible.

Diagnostics

If the field device does not support the configured IO, a diagnostic interrupt is triggered. 

To eliminate the error you must change the configuration.
Section "Diagnostics via LED displays (Page 107)" contains the following information for a 

fieldbus connection:
● Information for analysis of the cause of errors 
● Information on the status 

Field device replacement

● During a field device replacement the Selected IO of the CFU PA overwrites the profile set 

in the field device.

● If the field device does not have this profile, this is signaled by an error message. 

You then have the option of changing the selected IO to a value available in the field device.

The selected IO of the CFU PA is never automatically overwritten by the PA profile active in 

the field device.

Configuring an IO

The PA profiles offered by the field device are read-in again by the CFU PA only after a field 

device replacement. 
For connected field devices, the CFU PA automatically attempts to set the PROFIBUS PA 

address on the field device. 

You can find the assignment of fieldbus connections to the addresses of the PROFINET PA 

field devices in section "PROFIBUS addresses of the PROFIBUS PA field devices on the CFU 

PA (FBn) (Page 189)".
